5 out of 5 stars Best Fifa World Cup So Far   April 28, 2010

I got this game yesterday and so far I'm very impressed.

This is by far the best world cup EA has created in their FIFA World Cup series. The atmosphere, graphics, and user interface are much improved over last world cup.

First, the positives:

The game play is pretty realistic. The defense is much harder to break down than in previous versions, which seems to keep the scoreline in check.

The online mode is awesome. You can actually pick a team and challenge other teams in world cup.

As far as the graphics go, I believe they're pretty strong. Stadiums, game action, and atmosphere, everything looks good. The crowds make you feel you are actually in the stadium.

Having 199 teams is a huge plus. You can even pick Afghanistan. LOL

Having two Button game play is a great addition for new comers in game.

Penalty kicks have improved and they are alot harder to score.

Btw the Goal looks bigger.

The negatives:

You still can`t play against friends in 2 vs 2 match up.

There are no clubs in it, but that doesn't bother me since I have Fifa 09 and Fifa 10.

Overall. it's a great game. If you want more features and clubs go buy Fifa 10, but if you want better graphics more International teams get this. This

game comes out every 4 years so I didn't mind paying for it and enjoy having my hometown team in there. So if you are hardcore fan of soccer or your

country didn`t make it to world cup buy this. You won't regret.

Take care and I'll see you online! :)

5 out of 5 stars Amazing, fun game!   April 28, 2010

This game has many differences to FIFA 10, but they are mostly small ones. The online mode is about 100 times better than FIFA 10 though since every game you play you earn points now for wins or 1 pt for tie. You are in a league and play 10 games per season, after 10 games u can get relegated or promoted to the next highest league, there are 10 leagues. If you win at the highest league you become champion and earn trophies. Plus all your wins go towards a country you represent, so there are rankings on how good the countries are at playing.

The actual game has better sound than 10 by a million times. It's extremely festive and loud and you really feel like your at a live match. The passing seems a lot more realistic and fluid and the players make brilliant runs now, the cpu seems to think off the ball so much better. Gameplay seems a bit faster so it tends to make the matches more exciting, sometimes it is a bit fast for realism. New penalty system I love, makes it a little harder to get one so there is more excitement. Graphics are about the same as 10 I would say. Players faces are much better though, they really look like the real guys now.

5 out of 5 stars Great game leading up to the World Cup   April 29, 2010

Whether you are a huge soccer fan or totally new to the sport this game is a blast. I bought Fifa 10 at release and have played it a ton and this game only improves on it. Same great engine from Fifa 10 is tweaked to address some major annoyances. (Defenders chesting balls in the box down straight to attackers for gimme goals, easy chips of the keeper)
Scatter shot observations.

All 199 teams, many with authentic jerseys. New stadiums and overall presentation is great although the in-game cut scenes can get a bit repetitive.

Graphics in the cut scenes are also improved and the player close-ups look better than ever. Captain your country is a pretty cool feature, and if you have a created player from Fifa 10 you can transfer him over. The stats you worked so hard to build up will not transfer though as you have to progress by performing well in qualifying and friendlies on the way to the World Cup.

Tourney mode starts with qualifying and friendlies. A simulate match option would come in very handy here since it takes forever to make it to the actual tournament.

Scenarios mode puts you in real life situations from the qualifying around the world with goals to accomplish in each game. Very fun mode with additions coming as the actual cup progresses. The announcers, while not my favorite individuals, are very accurate to situations and add to the game when you can hear them over the crowd (sliders available).

Online mode is fresh but limited to a World Cup tourney starting from the group stage. Pick one country and play three group matches to progress, then to the round of 16, and four single elimination games to win the cup. You do not have to play them all at once. Not sure how the matchmaking works but it is a blast. I would have enjoyed the inclusion of the team play modes which were a blast in Fifa 10. Doubt this was a space issue so I think it should have been included in a full price game.

I guess that is it. Overall a great purchase for most, especially if you have some competitive friends to play with!

GO USA!

5 out of 5 stars A fun follow-up to 09, and easy to pick up and play   April 30, 2010

I am a fan of FIFA 09 for Wii, but I was deterred from buying 2010 because of bad reviews. But with the World Cup coming up, I decided to purchase the game to get to know the squads for the upcoming tournament. I am enjoying this game immensely.

First off, the gameplay- the addition of using B to do high passes brings the game's fun factor up by a mile, and was something missing from 09. The shots are explosive and remind me of a more arcade experience, but it's quite fun. The shooting is a bit like the Footii matches from 09, but faster shot speed. There is a bit of slow motion that comes when shooting, but it enables you a split second to position your defensive player to make a block and help protect your goalie. I don't find it obtrusive, but some might so please keep this in mind. So far, I am not sure if this feature can be disabled. Shooting on set pieces is more difficult, and is not as automatic as it was in 09- you no longer point the Wii remote at the screen, and requires some timing by shaking the remote at the correct moment. As a soccer fan, I like all of this.

Second, I really enjoy the Build Zakumi's Dream Team feature, which put you and your (default) low rated all-star squad up against various nations, with objectives to complete in game. This feature reminds me of older EA games, accomplishing things to gain points for better skills, etc. As you defeat clubs and accomplish (like maintaining 68% possession against South Africa, or completing 10 straight passes and scoring off those passes against Honduras) tasks, the game allows you to trade players with the team you defeat. This enables you to build an All-Star team of the best Internationals! Another neat feature I like is, as you build your Dream Team, you are able to download it to your Wii remote to play at a friend's house. Very cool, although I don't know how useful it would be unless playing many friends in some sort of tournament. Overall, seeing the new kits, having 199 teams, and the innovative features make a cool game.

Update 5/11/10: I am still enjoying the game, having completed the Dream Team feature and now trying to complete the unlockables. I noticed some commments are negative toward the Wii version compared to other consoles. I think this is the point of the Wii. If you are new to soccer or just want to have fun and score a lot of goals, this is a fine game and system.

5 out of 5 stars Awesome game!   May 14, 2010

If you like soccer and if you like FIFA, go buy this game with your eyes closed (note that I have FIFA 10). The game is similar to FIFA 10, but he gameplay has many improvements, the ball fells more real, the keepers play better and the penalties are harder and need to be practiced.

But where this game really shines is in the online mode, you can play the FIFA World Cup online, with the group phase, quarter finals and everything, the game always sets you up with someone who is in the same part of the tournament as you, so if you are in the final, your online opponent will also be in the final, this sets up interesting matches and will give you exciting matches, because if you lose one game after the group phase you have to start again. Because of this, every game matters and will not be just an online head to head match, and winning the cup is very satisfactory.

Im hooked to this game!
